Investors in mortgages are increasingly demanding sustainability from the underlying properties. The well-known energy label is often used as a key indicator. However, other criteria such as CO2 emissions, energy consumption, the financial health of the homeowner, and climate risks also play a significant role.
"Don't focus solely on a property's energy label; sustainability is much broader," say mortgage fund manager Egbert Buitink and ESG officer Patricia Alblas from Achmea Mortgages.
