Mortgages ought to be a fixed component of fixed-rate portfolios, alongside government bonds and credits. This is due to the favourable risk/return ratio of mortgages with a high spread compared with the swap curve, of more than 150 BPS. Private mortgages also have a relatively low correlation with other assets. In short, an highly interesting investment market.
